Treatment plans to match your needs.
WE’RE HERE TO HELP
There are different causes of female urinary incontinence. Treatment works best when the specific reason is determined. Physicians at Warren Obstetrics and Gynecology have extensive training in treating women’s urinary incontinence. After an initial visit to the office for an evaluation, you and your doctor will review the best plan of care for your specific condition.
TESTING
As a result of your evaluation, your physician may order a urodynamic study. This test allows the technicians to pinpoint exactly when the bladder leaks and under what conditions. The test takes place at Warren General Hospital and lasts approximately one hour. After the study is complete, your doctor can recommend a treatment plan to best match your needs.
TREATMENTS
Medication
There are a number of effective medications that can treat certain kinds of incontinence. Your doctor can help you decide if this is the best option for you.
Bladder Health Rehabilitation Therapy
In coordination with RehabWorks at Warren General Hospital, a bladder health program has been designed to address several causes of urinary incontinence. The program generally requires 1-2 sessions per week, depending on your doctor’s recommendations.
With a referral from your doctor, the occupational therapists implement
a treatment program incorporating
education on normal bladder habits
and a variety of exercises designed
to strengthen the pelvic floor and retrain
the bladder. In addition, the therapist may
use a machine that allows both you and
your therapist to assess the strength and activity of your pelvic floor muscles.
Surgical Intervention
You and your physician may decide that the best long-term treatment is a surgical correction. There are a number of options, several of them being minimally invasive procedures that may be done as an outpatient.
