Mike:
In the Museum of the Confederacy's Catalogue of Uniforms (Richmond: Museum of the Confederacy, 1987), p. 46, there's a description of the uniform of Captain Pichegru Woolfolk, Jr., of the Ashland Artillery: Double-breasted frock coat. Cadet gray twill wool cloth with red wool piping and no facings. Gold braid captain's insignia on collar, 1/4 inch gold sleeve. Virginia state buttons. Sounds like a fairly standard Confederate officer's coat. Hope this helps.
