[WW II] Sterling Silver Rank Insignia

Have a First Lieutenant/Lieutenant(jg) in Sterling Silver with a Straight Pin closure as opposed to the 2-Prong with clips closure. It is marked "SHOLD-R-FORM: and "Shield". Believe it may date at least to WWII but do not know when the 2-Prong and Clips closure replaced the Straight Pin closure on rank insignia. Does anyone out there have any idea how old such a rank insignia could be??
