This is a BTW rather than a response to the question, I'm afraid. My ancestors would have been fighting on the "other" side, as I'm English, but I have always had an fascination with the battle because of Patrick Ferguson - what a guy! I had always thought the battle little more than an interesting sideshow, but a recent BBC TV programme described it as "crucial", in that it marked the turning point for loyalist support in the south?
