[Gen'l Info] The Battle of Wounded Knee

According to most popular histories of the Battle of Wounded Knee I've seen it was a massacre where the 7th Cavalry paid the Sioux back for the Little Big Horn. Can anyone direct me to information that refutes this or at least gives a balanced view?
