[Uniforms] 1768 Warrant--British Army

In 1768 the King put forth his "Royal Warrant" which was SUPPOSED to make everything quite clear and create some uniformity in the British army. There are, however, signs that the warrant was not always followed very closely.

Does anyone know of any period sources (i.e. documentation, drawings, etc.) from the American Revolution, which may show variations from the warrant? I am specifically interested in the 23rd Regiment of Foot, Royal Welch Fusiliers. Any and all info is welcome. Thank You.
