In Response To: [WW I] Old Riding Crop (Fred Jordt)
The marking refers to the 165th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Canada had Siege Batteries also but these were numbered 1 - 12. The Canadian Garrison Artillery (CGA) and Canadian Field Artillery (CFA) were not 'Royal' until after the First World War.
