[Mexican War] Mexican Uniforms

Dear Sirs,
While doing genealogical research on my family I found an old photo of a relative who went to the Mexican equivalent of West Point in Mexico. I would like to ask if you could suggest a source where I might do more research into the Mexican Military uniforms around the time of the Mexican Revolution.
His uniform appears to be dark in color, with a "pill" type hat. with a stripe an some type of emblem on the midddle of it. He has brass buttons on the sleves and a stripe down the leg. He carries a long saber in a white gloved hand. Unfortunatley that is all I can make out from the photo other than some sort of light colored "flap' on the top of the shoulders.
Anything you can help me with will be appreciated.
Thank you.
