The MC&H issue from Fall 1959 has a short bit of text accompanying Plate No 161. From what you mention in you note, you may be seeing the same thing reprinted in the CMH Uniform book that covered the revolution time period. Plate 161 is labeled Provost Company of Light Dragoons, 1778-1783.
