[Uniforms] SC kepi by J. H. Silverberg

Hi Doby,
Company member Richard Warren alerted me to your message about the provenance of your South Carolina Kepi. Yes, it sounds very much like a Civil War-period piece. If you have the 'Time-Life' - Echoes of Glory Confederate volume, go to p. 160, and there you will see a photo of a kepi, complete with maker's label, made by J. H. Silverberg, which was worn by Maj. G. B. Lartigue, 1st South Carolina. I have also seen Silverberg ads in the contemporary Charleston newspapers of 1861-62, and can send copies to you if you are interested to see them.
