In Response To: [Gen'l Info] Historical document (M.C. Adams)

M. C., first, according to the Adjutant General's "List of Military Posts Established in the United States From its Earliest Settlement to the Present Time", there is no such animal as either a Fort or Camp Grimm or Gunn.

Here are the "G" camps, forts, etc. in AL or GA.

Ft. Gadsden, AL - Near Spanish Fort.
Ft. Galnes, AL - On Dauphin Island, Mobile Bay, on [sic] sight of old Ft. Tom Bigbee [sic].
Ft. Gaines, GA - On Chattahooche R., in Clay Co.; now town of that name.
Camp Gilman, GA - At Americus.
Camp Gilmer, GA - Oskeenfe-okee.
Gladden Redoubt, AL - Near Mobile.
Glass Redoubt, AL - Alabama & Tombigbee R.
Battery at Goat's Pt., AL - On Tybee Island.
Ft. Golphin, GA - At Augusta.
Camp Graham, GA - On Tybee Island.
Granger Gen. Hospital, AL - Huntsville
Battery Grant, AL - Tybee Island.
Grant's Island Reservation - In Mobile Bay.
Fortified Camp ar Great Horshoe Bend, AL - On Tallapoosa R.; called by Indians "Tohopeka."
Battery on Great Warsaw Island, GA - Near Savannah.
Ft. Greene, GA - On St. Mary's River
Battery on Green Island, GA

Sorry about the ugly formatting of the message but by the time I got through extracting this, looks were not the priority.

Merry Christmas,

Billy
