I am a collector of historical antiques, mostly military and Civil War related. My big project is to identify a coatee, which I believe to be that of a state Dragoon militia unit, 1845-1850. However I do not know the state, city or unit to which it belonged, and it would be great to identify the soldier who used it.

Description:
- short 12-14 inch tail
- made out of reddish woolen material
- inside, whitish linen, hand sewn, no thick padding
- high 3-inch collars
- double breasted
- gold braided single chevrons on both cuffs
- cuffs are of a darker blueish material
- chest has gold "frogging" which gets wider in the middle
and narrower at the top and bottom
- all 34 buttons on both sides of the frogging, on the
cuffs, collar and tail are Dragoon eagle "D" buttons with
the RMDC back markings: "Horstmann and Drucker..."
- it was accompanied by a pair of epaulettes that have
silverish/greyish bullion Capt. bars, and a unit circle
of the same bullion with the number "11"
- both epaulettes have gold bullion, reddish padding
underneath, and have a small Dragoon button with the
same back marks indicated above;

The coatee is pretty small in size and in good condition.

If anybody can help me identify this I would greatly appreciate it. Are there any pictures or drawings of such state Dragoon militia units? I can send you photos and any further info that you may need.

Thank you very much!
