Brian Carroll

Historian, working on finishing my Ph.D. in American History. My speciality is the colonial period and am doing a lot of work on masculinity in Colonial America (what it meant to 'be a man' back then). So I'm naturally drawn to military history and found many bibliographies pointing to articles put out by the company. So here I am! I'm most interested in information on Indian men and where, when, how, and why they served for the English during the colonial wars. I've done much research and am focusing in on two units, Bourne's Rangers (1725 raised on Cape Cod --Wampanoags), and Gorham's Rangers (1740s also raised on Cape Cod & surrounding areas --records I'm finding conflict with much of what I find, Gorham's rangers were Indians, not Englishmen like many sources claim --except the officers).
